What are dermal filler injections?
Dermal fillers are hyaluronic acid injections to address various signs of aging, particularly deep lines and wrinkles. By strategically placing these fillers under the skin, we can effectively soften the appearance of these imperfections, restoring a more youthful and vibrant look to the face.
One of the primary advantages of dermal fillers lies in their ability to replenish lost volume in areas where the effects of aging are most pronounced. As we age, our skin's production of collagen and elastin declines, leading to a gradual loss of elasticity and firmness. This natural process can result in the formation of wrinkles, fine lines, and hollow areas, particularly in regions such as the cheeks, lips, and under the eyes. Dermal fillers offer a targeted solution to these concerns by restoring volume and enhancing facial contours, effectively reversing the visible effects of aging.
What is dermal filler made of?
Hyaluronic acid, the key ingredient in dermal fillers, is a naturally occurring substance in our bodies, especially abundant in our skin. It plays a crucial role in maintaining hydration and volume, keeping the skin plump and smooth. However, as we age, the body's production of hyaluronic acid diminishes, contributing to the development of sagging skin and wrinkles. Dermal fillers provide a safe and effective way to replenish this lost hyaluronic acid, helping to restore youthful fullness and vitality to the skin.
What are the benefits of Dermal Filler?
One of the standout features of dermal fillers is the immediacy and longevity of their results. Patients typically experience noticeable improvements in their appearance immediately following treatment,
with the effects lasting for six months to a year or more. Furthermore, their customizable nature allows for tailored treatments that address each patient's unique concerns and aesthetic goals, ensuring natural-looking results that enhance rather than alter their features.
Overall, dermal fillers represent a highly effective solution for combating the visible signs of aging, offering patients a non-surgical option to rejuvenate and revitalise their appearance. Dermal fillers are a facial aesthetic treatment that involves injecting a gel containing Hyaluronic acid into the skin. This substance is naturally found in the body and helps to reduce wrinkles, contour and add volume to the skin. Dermal fillers boost the skin’s supply of hyaluronic acid, instantly diminishing the appearance of lines and wrinkles and giving a natural, softer look. The gel is tissue-friendly and long-lasting but not permanent.

Dermal fillers can produce an immediate visible result after injection. However, it might take up to four weeks for the filler to fully integrate into the tissue. Some fillers are more cohesive than others. Usually, one to two sessions can achieve optimal results. In case further treatment is needed, it is usually done after two weeks to allow any swelling or bruising to subside.
As with any injection, it is possible that you may experience some redness, swelling, tenderness and bruising. These may take a 2-3 days to resolve and bruises sometimes longer. We advise that you don’t plan treatments around important commitments and allow at least 2 weeks between treatment and an important social or work event.
The longevity of the results will mostly depend on the treated area, product used, and individual metabolism. On average, most patients only need to repeat the treatment once every 9-12 months.
